We are Magic 109, an internet radio station devoted in providing the best possible music and entertainment around with the best possible presenters, boasting in great personalities, on-air charisma and extremely engaging with our listening audience. What personal data we collect and why.
Being an internet radio station, we do collect quite a bit of information from our listeners, visitors and team members at our station.
- We receive temporary listener statistics from our listening audience.
- We collect names, locations and email addresses.
- We mingle on social media and often view our friends and followers.
- We provide updates in our mailing list with the use of your email address.
- We receive donations through PayPal.
- We retrieve internet cookies through our website to allow convenient features.
- We retrieve song titles and artists through our ‘Request Form’ from you.
- We require personal details on our ‘Application’ form on our website.
- We use contact details you provide on our ‘Contact’ form to respond to you.
- We obtain your media optionally provided by you.
This information helps us function and provide a mutual relationship between us and our listeners, as well as interact and communicate amongst fellow teammates at Magic 109.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Photos and audio files uploaded to our website are stored in a discrete location but are not private as is most content uploaded through most forms on the internet. If the line of communication is severed between you and us and this material is no longer needed, we do delete it.
Our ‘Application’ form, ‘Contact’ form and ‘Request’ form are used to collect the required and intended details and deliver it to email and are sent using a PHP script. These forms do their intended functions and help us perform our duties as an internet radio station.
Requests & Dedications
Requested songs, whether delivered to us through our ‘Request’ form on our website or some other means may be shared on the air depending on the presenter. Information that will never be shared is the recipient’s email address. Information that may be shared (if provided) on the air is the recipient’s first name or alias, general location, song title, artist and dedication if applicable.
Applicants understand that your information we collect is used to help us get your start at our station. We also use this information to verify your talent, experience, intent, and caliber. Sending our application off to us initiates your agreement with our Volunteer Service Agreement, which is accessible and must be agreed upon before an application can be started. The information on this form is retained in a CSV file until the applicant either no longer is interested or leaves our station as a presenter. In addition to all the data you send through our ‘Application’ form, your IP address is also logged.
Our contact form is used to interact with listeners and fellow team members alike and provides an easy solution to engage in conversations back and forth. This information is only held until communication is no longer desired by either party or when no longer necessary.
The “Magic 109 Announcements Mailing List” is a one-way or announcements only mailing list. Your details are private and in most cases secure. Subscriptions are secured with a password either created by you or are generated by the Mailing List itself to provide mild security and prevent others from tampering with your subscription. Opting in and out is easy and is accessible available at all times.
To our fellow team members here at Magic 109, internal affairs occur on a discussion mailing list. A subscription is mandatory for all presenters exclusive to Magic 109. The details you choose to share in that list are at your discretion. Your email address is visible and communication is possible between fellow team members and notifications from our listeners through our forms on our website is also possible.
If you have any contact through our forms on our website, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and any other details in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you make contact again. These cookies will last for one year.
If you are a team member and have an account and you log in to our site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Occasionally, we like, retweet, reply, direct or private message, favorite or engage in our followers and friends activities. This activity is to show appreciation to our listening audience and fellow team members here at Magic 109 and help boost our image to others. Our presenters will always use their own social media and provide the details they wish to share with you on their radio shows and bio pages. Contests and station events also occur on our social media as well. We may announce winners and contestants from time to time, but the rules will always be clearly evident when they’re announced.
Articles and pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
The analytics practices are mainly used to improve upon ourselves or to satisfy any legal authority. We don’t share any private information such as email addresses, PayPal details, addresses or other details that would be clearly identifiable. Our belief is that analytics should help us improve our station as a whole, without identifying any of our listeners in the process. The information we collect helps us determine what listeners are listening to, what they’re interested in when they listen and in some cases, why, how and who they’re listening to or with.
Who we share your data with.
Other than abiding with our Streaming License Provider, Live365 and affiliate, gbj Imaging for ad campaign analytics, any information shared are purely for analytical purposes only and for their benefit. The only other information shared is requests and dedications, contest details, the contact information our presenters share on-air, our member’s station details on their respective bio pages and perhaps details regarding independent artists who reach out to us. Outside of that, no information by us is shared. We may redistribute publicly available information such as tweets, Facebook posts or other details, but only if it is publicly available to all audiences.
How long we retain your data.
The only information that is kept permanently as far as information in a written or text-form is perhaps the announcements distributed on our website and announcements only mailing list. No verbal information is ever held or retained for any length of time or considered of any value. Blogposts may be taken down, but cannot be undone when delivered by email in our mailing list.
Any information needed from our presenters to be an intricate team player at our station is only held until they leave our station or are dismissed during their audition period. Presenters have the right to share only the information they feel is necessary and practice their own judgment on what is considered fair, without interfering in our professional image.
What rights you have over your data.
If you were or are a team member of Magic 109 and have an account on this site and/or have left announcements or articles, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data.
Visitor and listener interaction through our forms are processed with a PHP script, which delivers the details to email. Any other information like mailing list subscription is retained on our mailing list client until an opt-out is initiated. Your data is delivered through the various facets of our station’s website and services in the most appropriate fashion.
What data breach procedures we have in place.
Any data breach that occurs will be rectified as soon as possible with urgency. No one wants this happening to them and we cannot promise a 100% guarantee that it won’t occur but can assure we don’t want it to. Our presenters are aware of our concerns and share the same concerns of our listener’s privacy. If it is proven that our own presenter(s) are found responsible, they will be removed from our station immediately. If a breach does occur, we will also sincerely apologize and hope no hard feelings occurs between us and you and will work together to come to the best solution possible for both parties.
What third parties we receive data from.
We do receive some information from third parties. In most cases, this information is never of any significance or value, nor is it held for any length of time to be considered of any significance either. Most information collected through third parties include; social media, shared articles or blog posts of interest or other relevant information that may be considered of value to our listeners and anything else found available on the internet publicly that may benefit the station or our listeners.
What automated decision-making and/or profiling with user data.
When it comes to our team members, after an applicant applies, they initially create their bio with the information we ask in the application. The details are also used to populate our schedule, ‘Request’ form and other areas of our website and it’s services.
When it comes to our listeners or visitors to our station, no information is ever automatically used to profile them. Our presenters may become well-acquainted with some of their listeners, but if any profiling is occurring it is not of any concern to this station, unless it is being used in a negative way.
Industry Regulatory Disclosure Requirements
Finally, as previously mentioned, any information necessary to distribute to our Streaming License Provider, campaign affiliate and other sites and services that help us perform our duty as an internet radio station will be shared if it is necessary. With that said, you understand it is your right as a listener or team member to refuse to partake in our practices and policies. Your privacy is our top priority and biggest concern.
