Wes’s Love Meltdown For 2/11/2020; The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Valentine’s Day

Posting this a bit earlier than normal so everyone has time to prepare with their requests, dedications, and the like.

The Tuesday before Valentine’s Day, Alicia and I will do our own take on the special holiday. It’ll be a mix of happy love songs, songs about love gone wrong, and even a few for the broken-hearted and the single among us. Whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day, we hope you’ll join us Tuesday at 7:00 East to see what we have in store for you. Also, start getting those requests and dedications in now at http://magic109.com/request. Select my name from the drop-down, and send away. Whether you want to send your love to your sweetheart, send something to that crush who doesn’t know you exist, or give a big middle finger to that ex who broke your heart and crushed you’re spirit, if it’s love/hate related, we’ll be playing it this week.

And of course, there will be a Valentine’s-related cover comparison. Stay tuned to find out what we’re using. Some of you will love it; some of you may be horrified. Either way, it’s sure to be a good time.

I hope to see you for our special pre-valentine’s edition of The Meltdown! 7:00 East/4:00 Pacific on Magic 109. Visit http://magic109.com, find us on TuneIn Radio or OoTunes, or tell that smart speaker to play us. We’re everywhere!

Wes and Alicia of The Meltdown Interview Author Jo Elizabeth Pinto; Where To Hear It

First, a huge thanks to those of you who tuned in Tuesday night. We played all your requests, gave you some new tunes, a cover comparison, and a Wes’s Musical Meltdown first…We had an author interview. In my internet radio career, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing musicians such as Keith Nelson of Buckcherry, Andy Parker of UFO, members of Killer Dwarfs, and others, but have never conducted an author interview before. This was a treat, and the listeners really seemed to enjoy it. Many have asked for copies of the interview, so I’m here to let you know how you can listen.

First, if you want the replay of the full show, including the six songs Jo Elizabeth Pinto picked to represent the characters from her novel, you can either follow me on MixCloud by searching for my name, or going to http://www.mixcloud.com/wderby. Alternatively, if you prefer other podcasting clients, you can search for Wes’s Musical Meltdown on most popular podcasting platforms, or go right to http://wesderby.net/meltdown01282020.

If you’d prefer to hear the interview uncut as a stand-alone piece, that’s now available for you at http://wesderby.net/jepintointerview01252020.

I hope you enjoy, and I hope you’ll continue to join Alicia and I Tuesdays at 7:00 PM East for the Meltdown on Magic 109!

This Week On Wes’s Musical Meltdown: Books And Music Collide! Author Interview, Grammys, More

The headline pretty much says it all! This week on Wes’s Musical Meltdown, Alicia and I have a jam-packed show for you. In the first hour, we’ll feature a mix of tunes, a 3-way Cover Comparison, and your requests. Get them to us via the Magic 109 Request Page.

In the second hour, we’ll have an interview with our friend and self-published author Jo Elizabeth (J.E.) Pinto. She’ll talk about her two books, The Bright Side of Darkness and Daddy Won’t Let Mom Drive the car. She also gave us a 6—pack of songs she feels the main characters in Bright Side might have listened to during the era in which the book takes place.

During the third hour, as the 62nd annual Grammy Awards were handed out this past Sunday, we’ll do a brief feature and play some of the songs/artists that won awards. Of course, there’s no way we’ll get to all the winners, but we’ll do a brief selection of the best and most notable winners from rock, pop, country, album of the year, record of the year, and so on. So, there will not, unless we have time after the Grammy spotlight, be much time for requests outside the third hour. I apologize in advance, but hope you’ll enjoy the show regardless. The first hour, up until Cover Comparison, will be filled with requests if you have them. That, I can promise you.

As a heads-up, we will do a love and anti-love songs show on February 11, the Tuesday before Valentine’s Day, so get your requests and dedications ready for that one…Dedications for your current love, hate for the ex, something in between…We’ll take it all!

BTW, if you’d like to read the books from our featured author on tomorrow’s show, you can get Bright Side of Darkness at https://amzn.to/2U2DgTC

You can obtain Daddy Won’t Let Mom Drive the Car at https://amzn.to/2tUHhPp

I look forward to having you join us tomorrow night. Visit http://magic109.com for listen links, tell Alexa or Google Home “Play Magic 109 From TuneIn”, or find Magic 109 on the TuneIn Radio app for your phone or tablet!

Wes’s Musical Meltdown Is Back For Another Exciting Week!

First, I want to thank everyone who made the first week of Wes’s Musical Meltdown on Magic 109 such a huge success. Thanks for the requests, the interaction, and the feedback. In ten years of doing internet radio, I can honestly say it was one of my most listened to broadcasts! Of course, I think a lot of that is due to my co-host, the lovely Alicia, as well as you, the listeners, spreading the word. You are appreciated more than you know!

Tuesday night, we’ll be back at 7:00 PM East for another week of musical insanity. We’ll have a new Cover Comparison, we’ll talk about last week’s results, and we’ll play your requests. Also, lots of new tunes from all over the musical spectrum coming your way. We’ll have a set we’ve called the “Rebel” set; you’ll have to tune in to see what we mean. Of course, knowing me, I’ll touch on sports and current events from the past week as well.

I do intend to hang out on Team Talk during the show, so listeners are welcome to come up and join us. I haven’t set things up for Team Talk to go out over the air, but that’ll come one of these days.

In exciting news, we also have a new show intro! I haven’t had a cool show intro in so long, I’ve sort of forgotten what that feels like. Thanks to Alicia for her voice talent assistance, and offering me feedback throughout the production process. Tune in, and let us know what you think.

Introducing Wes’s Musical Meltdown; Making My Magic Debut on 1/14/20

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. I’m pleased to join the Magic 109 team, and am thrilled to be debuting Wes’s Musical Meltdown on Magic 109 on January 14, 2020 at 7:00 PM East. I’ve been involved in internet radio in some form since August of 2009, and have hosted The Meltdown on a few different stations over the years.

Thanks first to listeners who have followed me as the show has moved. Thanks also to those of you planning to check the show out for the first time.

For those wondering, the show has no particular format as far as genre is concerned. You’ll hear everything from Casting Crowns and Third Day to Merle Haggard and Metallica, and everything in between. There will be comedy, serious stuff, rock, country, Christian, secular. Yes, there will be adult content. You have been warned!

Of course, your requests are always welcome. Feel free to use the request form on the home page, and if I have it, I’ll play it. If I don’t, I’ll do my best to get it for a future show and to play something equally awesome to satisfy your musical cravings. I encourage listeners to interact with me via social media, requests, email, and eventually, we’ll incorporate voice chat into the show. You’re encouraged to vote in our Cover Comparison. I don’t reveal what songs/artists will be featured on the segment in advance as I want you to listen to the songs and give your objective opinions.

If you wish to find me, Twitter is wwesderby. On Facebook, just search for me by name. I do not maintain separate social media accounts for the show, so by following/friending me, you’ll gain insight into my personal, professional, and DJ life. Enter at your own risk.

In addition to myself, the show will often feature Alicia, my significant other, as a co-host. I know you will all love her as much as I do.

If you have any questions about the show, feel free to reach out to me at wes (at) magic109 dot com, and I’ll get back to you. Or, just tune in, enjoy the ride, and let me know what you think.

Some material on the program may not be suitable for younger/easily offended audiences.
